Most Human Resources Professionals in Canada require Professional Development credits to maintain their professional designation. Browse courses that meet your requirements, or choose one of our course packages, specially curated to contain all the hours and credits you need, in one place. The courses on LearnFormula may be counted towards professionally relevant, verifiable learning activities. It is the student's responsibility to validate whether an activity is an eligible educational activity for their professional development requirements based on their own learning needs.
Requirements
CPHR Alberta requires all designation holders to complete 60 CPD Hours within a rolling three-year cycle, with a minimum of 10 hours annually. CPD hours must be earned across at least two qualifying categories during each three-year period.
Qualifying categories include:
CPD logs must be submitted by December 31 each year. Failure to submit on time may result in late fees, and non-submission within 30 days of the deadline will result in revocation of the designation.
Accreditation & Course Eligibility
CPHR Alberta does not require CPD activities to be pre-approved. Activities that have not been pre-approved may still qualify if they support professional development and align with the CPHR Competency Framework.
Acceptable activities include ongoing learning (both formal and informal), seminars, workshops, conferences, leadership activities, volunteer roles, academic research or publications, mentoring, and significant work projects. Internal company procedure or process training is not eligible.
Reporting, Record-Keeping & Auditing
Members are expected to record CPD activities throughout the year and are encouraged to upload supporting documents when submitting their logs. Supporting documentation should confirm the date, number of hours, and description of the activity.
Documentation must be kept for one year after submission of the CPD log. Recommended records include:
CPHR Alberta randomly audits 3% of submitted CPD logs each year. Members can only be audited once every three years. If selected, they must provide documentation for all CPD activities listed. If insufficient evidence is provided, unsupported hours are removed from the log. If this results in fewer than 10 hours being supported for the year, members must provide further documentation or risk revocation of their designation.
