About this courseCanadian companies, and foreign companies doing business with Canadian companies, often need to get skilled workers to Canada. From executives of multi-national corporations to sophisticated I.T. workers that keep a company running to specialized-knowledge personnel that holds the key to their business’ vibrancy, highly-skilled foreign workers form an integral part of Canada’s business landscape and getting them a visa is often key to a business’ success.
The law provides both opportunities and obstacles in getting foreign personnel to Canada. This program will take you through Canada’s corporate immigration system – explaining the legal structure and practical paths for securing visas, highlighting the considerations in securing work permits, looking at strategies to wade through the maze, and much more. You’ll leave with both a ‘big picture’ perspective of the system, as well as an understanding of how to navigate the issues.
The program will explore immigration issues including Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs), the Global Talent Stream, Intra-Company Transfers, Professional Visas under various free trade agreements (including the new CUSMA; formerly NAFTA), and much more. The program will be of value to employers, their in-house legal staff, HR personnel, mobility professionals, foreign nationals seeking to work in Canada, and anyone else involved in corporate immigration matters.
The program also canvasses COVID-related work permit/immigration issues now in place.
